What does Fraxel re:store® do?

How does Fraxel re:store® Work?
Simply put, Fraxel® treatment promotes your skin’s own healing process, resulting in natural rejuvenation that removes years from your appearance. By design, Fraxel® treatments can target between 5-50% of the skins surface, leaving the remaining 50-95% available to quickly heal the treated areas. The deep penetrating laser also promotes the production of collagen that tightens and lifts the skin. Q: I have dark skin, is the Fraxel® laser safe for me?
A: In the past, treatment options for darker skinned patients were few. Today’s Fraxel re:store® is FDA approved and safe for all skin types including dark skin.
Q: How many treatments will I need?
A: Everybody’s skin is different. That’s why I suggest every patient come in for a skin evaluation. The number of treatments I generally recommend is between 3 and 5, spaced about 2-4 weeks apart. When you have your initial skin analysis I will customize a treatment plan specifically for you.
Q: What side effects can I expect after treatment and how long will they last?
A: Most of my patients experience some redness and swelling the first couple of days followed by a bronzed skin appearance. Patients describe it as looking like they had, “too much sun”. You can wear make-up to reduce this sunburn appearance.
Q: I’m 35 years old and I have scarring on my face from acne as a teenager. Will Fraxel help?
A: Fraxel® is FDA approved for the treatment of acne scars and surgical scars. I have used the Fraxel® laser on a number of people with moderate and severe stretch marks. Most patients see a noticeable change after the first treatment. In many cases the Fraxel® is able to reduce the appearance of these scars by 60-80%.
Q: How long do the effects of Fraxel® last?
A: It depends on your condition and how you care for your skin. Once your skin is restored, the results can last for years. I always tell my patients- we use the laser to turn back the clock, but we all continue aging. Taking good care of your skin will ensure the longest lasting benefits.
